Founded by Bernadette and Donovan Jones in 2006, Jones Safe House is a registered non-profit organisation that offers a sheltered haven for abused, abandoned and neglected children as well as mothers struggling with addiction. Located in Kommetjie, the safe house is one of very few in the South Peninsula area and is maintained by the Jones family, along with the tireless efforts of a dedicated team of volunteers who provide support in the form of legal and medical services, along with educational and psychological guidance.

With the aim of eventually re-integrating wherever possible the mothers and children back into society, Jones Safe House provides those in need with a stable and nurturing environment in which the vital healing process can begin. Recognized for the invaluable social contribution which the home makes to the surrounding communities of Ocean View, Red Hill and Masiphumelele, it’s a challenge that at times can stretch the Jones Safe House to capacity.

Dealing with local communities beset with gang violence, widespread drug use and the challenges of poverty, however, makes accessibility to the home of utmost importance. With over 100 occupants having passed through its doors previously, the safe house is fully committed to providing a holistic support system to residents and guiding them towards a brighter future with the care and compassion needed.
